A Word from the Dads’ Club President

Dads’ Club Make-a-Difference project

Thank you to Alan Henry and Patrick Hickey who co-chaired the Make-a-Difference Project on Jan. 31. This project provided dads and sons the opportunity to paint and do general maintenance at a community center.  It’s these opportunities and experiences that provide meaningful support to the local community and implement Brophy’s motto “Men for Others.”

Thank you also to Bob Ryan and the Brophy team that provided good advice for Brophy families at the Jan. 28 Dads’ Club meeting. The advice was directed at families in each high school year and related to the college selection process – making the best of each year at Brophy and making the final selection.

There will be additional volunteer activities later in the year, including a Manresa work weekend and a Paint-a-Thon. Watch for details.

The next Dads’ Club meeting will be Feb. 24 in the Great Hall. Join us at 5:30 p.m. for a half hour social period, food, beverages and hospitality prior to the business portion of our meeting. The business meeting will begin at 6 p.m. It will be short. It will then be followed by a program entitled “Planning for Summer at Brophy.” Brophy administrators will provide tips for the following considerations:

  1. Whether or not to take summer school – which year, which courses;
  2. Whether to work on your sophomore project or junior justice project;
  3. When to start college visits;
  4. Combinations of these alternatives to make best use of a summer at Brophy.

March 7 - BCP Auction – volunteers needed – parking lot assistants, set-up/tear-down, bartenders
March 13 & 14 – Father-Senior sons’ retreat
March 25 – Dads’ Club meeting, 5:30 p.m. Jesuit Garden – Winter Sports Wrap-Up; Spring activity preview

The Dads’ Club strives to provide opportunities for dads and sons to spend quality time together and to provide dads timely information on activities at Brophy.  You need not be a member of the Dads’ Club in order to attend Dads’ Club meetings or to participate in Dads’ Club activities. We invite you all to attend the February 24 Dads’ Club meeting in the Great Hall at 5:30 p.m.

Don Isaacson, President
Brophy Dads’ Club
