Dads’ Club News

Summertime at Brophy! If you think the campus might be quiet and students are on vacation, think again.  The campus is bustling with incoming freshman classes, summer school classes for upper classmen and let’s not forget summer camp at Brophy for upcoming 5th – 8th graders.

The Dads’ Club is in session as well. Twelve dads recently returned from our annual planning weekend in Manresa and we are pleased to announce we have an outstanding executive board and equally strong committee chairs for the coming year. Currently, Scott Harris is chairing the 2009-2010 Sports Program and is busy soliciting renewal and new ads for this year’s program. The Sports Program will be ready for sale at all home varsity football games.

The Dads’ Club monthly meetings resume Tuesday, August 18th in the Great Hall. Look for further information to follow by early August.

Before we begin a new year, I’d like to recognize and acknowledge our immediate past President Don Isaacson. Don epitomizes leadership and vision. Under Don’s leadership, the Dads’ Club created and gifted a scholarship in the name of retiring Jesuit priest, Fr. Renna. It is expected the Fr. Renna Endowment Scholarship Fund of $130,000 will be funded in installments over the next three years.  Thank you, Don, for your leadership but most of all your friendship. As a note of mention, as Don graduates from the Brophy Dads’ Club, he immediately assumes the leadership as President of the Xavier Dads’ Club. Don, our best wishes to you and the Xavier Dads’ Club in the coming year.

Enjoy your summer and see you August!
